Vernon Lucy Award
The late Vernon Lucy was a long-time AWWA volunteer leader and Water For People supporter who was recognized throughout the water industry. He was an engineering graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and served in the US Army in Vietnam.
The purpose of this award is to recognize a committee member, committee chair or recent Division trustee or chair sustained service or contributions to the Division or demonstrated creativity, initiative and dedication to the work of the Engineering & Construction Division.
The Award
An individual plaque will be presented to recipient. In addition, a complimentary registration will be offered to the next AWWA Water Infrastructure Conference.
Frequency of the Award
Annually, if eligible nominations are received by the deadline. The Engineering & Construction Division reserves the right to not present the award in any year where an outstanding candidate is not identified.
Eligibility of the Award
It is open to any current or recent committee chairs or members during the previous three years, who has demonstrated initiative, creativity and dedication within the Engineering & Construction Division. Recent Division trustees are eligible; however, current trustees and chairs are not eligible
Nomination Procedure: Nominations Due May 15
Any committee member, committee chair or Division trustee or chair in the Division may submit a one-page nomination documenting the exemplary service or contributions of the nominee within the past three years. Self nominations will not be accepted.
Nominations should be forwarded to the AWWA Staff Advisor of the Engineering & Construction Division or to awards@awwa.org. Please include a short bio.
Award Committee Membership
Engineering & Construction Division Chair and Trustees.
Method of Selecting Award Recipient
Majority vote of the Engineering & Construction Division Trustees after the nomination submission deadline.
Award Presentation
At the opening general session of the next AWWA Water Infrastructure Conference.
